Customer Service From Our Technician’s Perspective
Recently, a Senior Service Technician at Grand Rapids Metrology, Shayn Wyman, shared a message with his fellow employees. It was so powerful and explained the company’s ideals so well, we decided to share it with you!

Customer service is defined as “The assistance and advice provided by a company to those people who buy or use its products or services.”
With that being said, each and every one of us has the ability to impact the relationships we have with our current and potential customers on a daily basis.
Whether it is a face-to-face sales encounter, a technician showing up to a customer site, or simply answering a phone call – we all have an obligation to make each and every customer feel like they are the most important person we service. It should be that way because, without our customers, we wouldn’t go very far in this or any other industry.
We all have to be passionate when it comes to customer service. Have you ever had a bad day and brought it with you to work? Sure, we’re all guilty of that from time to time. But how will that frame your performance and our company to a customer? Even on a bad day we still need to strive to be enthusiastic, take pride in our work, demonstrate a drive to succeed, all the while hold ourselves accountable for our performance in front of others.
We must also exhibit integrity to show our customers the loyalty and reliability of GRM employees. We must conduct ourselves in a moral, ethical, and trustworthy manner to prove to our customers that we are a driven, disciplined and proactive organization in all that we do.
Sometimes in order to be a team player, we have to make a conscious decision to serve the greater good of the company, fellow employees, and our customers – even when those actions don’t serve our own personal best interests.
Always be respectful and optimistic, skillful in our positions, and level-headed in our decision making, while being properly presentable even when it may be a difficult decision.
Customer service is what keeps our customers coming back. Don’t give someone reason not to want to continue doing business with GRM.
Here’s to servicing our customer to the best of our ability each and every day at Grand Rapids Metrology!
